Lloyds TSB Group plc was renamed Lloyds Banking Group plc on 19 January 2009, following the acquisition of HBOS plc, creating the largest retail bank in the UK with a number of leading market positions. One in three people bank with them.

Requirements
We have delivered concept work and developed campaigns for bonus schemes, environmental issues, charity fundraising and colleague opinion surveys - from supplying simple graphics to producing design, artwork, print, web build, hosting and even production of CDs.

What We Did
Initially we provided support for the HBOS plc Internal Comms department. We created new materials including the electronic newsletter (which replaced various existing newsletters) to take them through the merger with Bank of Scotland. This electronic newsletter quickly became one of the main pieces of internal staff communication.
- Campaigns (pull-up and pop-up banner stands, posters, leaflets, brochures, web banners and intranet sites)
- Newsletters, traditional and electronic
- Websites – design, build and hosting
- Intranet sites – design and build
- Online auction, online calculators
- Internal signage/displays
- Support/back-up for internal designers
- Promotional Ideas
- CDs
Ongoing Work
- Helping the internal and Group comms departments keep in contact with all colleagues
- Helping them create knowledgeable happy colleagues through various easy-to-follow campaigns
- Creating a well-marketed and very popular Opinion Survey
- Helping the HBOS Foundation launch a range of online schemes
- Helping build the use of the internal intranet through the internal emag that replaced many printed publications
Over the years we’ve supplied to an increasing number of departments including the HBOS Foundation, shareholder services, Retail call centres and Secured Lending. Even after the transition to Lloyds Banking Group we’re picking up new work and carrying on where HBOS left off.

The Spiral Difference
Our brand knowledge was applied to a whole range of materials for the colleague opinion survey, incorporating a ‘familiar’ feel that encouraged maximum interactive feedback while maintaining the acknowledged qualities of the company. Where intensive, time-critical creative was essential, Spiral had the capacity to offer 24/7 support at short notice, ensuring high-volume, high-priority projects were completed on time.
Results
Following our work on the initial electronic newsletter, Spiral became the supplier of the main internal newsletter that ran for more than 200 issues over eight years, replacing many of the previous newsletters and leading people into using the group intranet. This led to producing the very successful internal opinion survey brand and materials, the survey regularly receiving a reply rate of over 90% from the then 70,000 staff. Spiral worked as part of the HBOS internal team and as such we regularly ran confidential projects for HBOS.
